The Christ Child is here

It is Christmas Eve (so this post is scheduled) which is the time to celebrate Christmas in Germany and right now, this very moment, we are indulging in good food. Traditionally, I serve a stuffed Christmas goose with trimmings; we have shrimp cocktail for appetisers and Panna Cotta with raspberry sauce for dessert.

We are unwrapping presents, we are singing in the light of the Christmas tree and we are happy to see the joy and amazement in Sunny's face. He knows this is a special night and a special event and we are happy that he is aware of that. We are glad to be together, enjoying time as a family, all of us healthy (as far as we know it *knockonwood*). We are glad to celebrate with my mother-in-law who is very important to Sunny and we are glad that she is doing fine.

Our lives are not always sunshine and roses, but tonight we celebrate the good stuff. We are kinder and nicer and more indulgent. We are thankful for each other and that we are able to celebrate another year of Christmas together. We are thankful to live in a country where we can feel safe, sheltered, and protected.
